My First Cross Stitch Project - Pictures Update

Hi Prim girls,

I was thinking for several weeks that I need to learned how make cross stitching.  As you know, I moved last year to VA and I don't have many friends here.  And the friends that I have did not make any crafts at all, nobody knows how to sew, paint, and stitch... nothing, except gardening and cooking.   Well, I decide if I know running stitch I can do cross stitch.   This week, I leave my daughter in her Religious Education class and I run to the craft store that I had so close.  I was seeing their cross stitch stuff and thinking what I am really needed to make this.  I select some additional colors and I take an aida cloth #14. I was thinking that it could help me, but remember this is my first project and I am completely lost with it.
I am a "self learner" person, if I do not know any person that can help me; I try, and try until I get a decent result.  This is the form that I start making dolls few years ago.  I was thinking that make cross stitch sounds so easy, all the girls in the blog land know how make cross stitch, well, I think this will be easy to make....... but I was completely WRONG. My respect for everyone that make cross stitch (like Jen, Kris, Christine, Betty, Pam, Lisa, John and others), this is the hardest project that I made in my life and without help, because I am trying this using a previous stitch that I had as reference.  Nobody had a tutorial of this in their blogs, or as of today I did not find anyone. Girls you are "masters", this is difficult.   I select a freebie pattern of Primitives Betties and I love it.
Thanks to Kris for show this week the magnifying lens, I got one yesterday in Joann and it make me a HUUUUGE difference to see the cloth. My completely admiration for everyone that use osnaburg, I love osnaburg for making dolls but for this project I think is so difficult to use it.  This is a picture of my first project.....

I am so proud of me, WOOOHOOO, it turns out so beautiful. I hope I finish it today. When I complete it I will post another picture.
Update

First project finished and here are the pictures...

Bye, Bye and see you soon, Evelyn

  6. Well look at you go, Evelyn!! It looks great!! It's kind of addicting; once you get started, you want to keep doing more!!
If you need any more help in learning, you can Google "How to cross stitch" and it'll give you many different websites that can help you learn. I found this one (http://yarntree.com/007begin.htm) that had printable directions that you could download.

    Good luck and happy stitching!!

I haven't cross stitched for a while but today I"m going to Jo Ann's and buying the magnifiing glass with my 50% of coupon:) So maybe that will help because I'd like to try on the osenberg, right now it's not fun to do because it's so hard on the eyes:)
